Colyford to Colyton river walk

Axe Estuary Wetlands
Just minutes from Yeoman's Acre are the Axe Estuary Wetlands (as featured on BBC's Countryfile in 2013!). A great place for wildlife and bird watching enthusiasts, the area encompasses Seaton Marshes, Colyford Common and Black Hole Marsh.

Axmouth and Seaton
The small seaside town of Seaton is situated at the mouth of the Axe River. It features a mile long curved pebble beach, plus a range of local independent shops and restaurants. It is also served by the tramway from Colyford.

The picturesque fishing village of Beer, just three miles from Colyford has a sheltered cove, a lovely characterful village centre with shops, pubs and restaurants.

Branscombe, one of our favourites, has beautiful walks with panoramic views of the coastline, a great stretch of beach and picturesque village with a church, forge and an old thatched country pub.

Budleigh Salterton
Budleigh Salterton is a quaint seaside town with a two mile pebbly beach and many shops, cafes and restaurants and lovely walks - pictured here is the much photographed Otter Head.

Backed by sandstone cliffs, this is a seaside town that has preserved its old world charm. It is also known for its annual folk festival which takes place in July.

Seaton Tramway
Colyford is on the famous Seaton to Colyton Tramway route. This is very popular with tourists and runs a regular service from Spring to Autumn. Colyford Tram Station is only 500m away.

The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage site that covers 95 miles of coastline from East Devon to Dorset. The entire length of the Jurassic Coast can be walked on the South West Coast Path. The coastline has rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, with many outstanding geographical features including lagoons, cliffs and fossil beaches.
